Tips for Removing Stains

Believe it or not, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner! ?And while that means parties and family fun, it can also mean spills and accidents on your floors. But not to worry, we have all the DIY tips you will need to get through the holidays. ?So party on and enjoy every second!

We recommend you always start by checking with the manufacturer's instructions for your floors, but these DIY tips are great tools as well.?

First Up is Carpet -

For everyday spills - Simple mix of ? tsp of clear non-bleach detergent or white vinegar with a quart of water.

Dark stains (chocolate, wine, coffee, blood) - For wool or wool blend carpet, use the simple mix from above. ?For a polypropylene blend carpet, use 1 part chlorine bleach to 5 parts water. And for all other carpets, use 1 tsp ammonia mixed with 1 cup of water.

Cooking Oils & Fats - Place a paper towel over the spill and then iron over it to lift the oil. ?

Wax & Gum - Use ice to freeze it and then break it up and finish it with a vacuum.

Next Up is Wood Floors -

Scratches or Scrapes - For minor ones, use wax or wood stain markers to hide. ?For deeper ones, you may need spot repairs of sanding and re-staining.

Grease, Gum, & Wax - Use the ice trick from above!

Spills - Most spills can be cleaned up with detergent mix and warm water.

Burns - Scrape burn away with dull knife and then spot treat the area with wax or stain marker.

?Now Let's Talk Laminate -?

Everyday cleaning - 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar with a squeeze of dish soap.?Less is more when it comes to water on your laminate.. Dampen the mop, don't soak it.?

Dark stains (blood, wine, soda) - Wipe with a damp cloth.

Grease - Freeze with ice and scrape off with a plastic knife once hardened. Wipe away with window cleaner and a damp cloth.

Nail Polish - Nail polish remover! ?So simple!

Scuffs - Rub out with a pencil eraser like a wrong answer on homework!?
